If you’re in the middle of a closet organization project, you might be stuck in the purge and organize phase. I get it! It’s time-consuming, you need a big space in order to get it done, and the best way to organize it all when you’re done is not always obvious.

I have some easy tips that will help you get through this step of your project. If you’ve been following along on the blog, then you know that this month is the second in the series about closet organization. Last month I talked about deciding whether you want to build a custom organization solution or use your existing closet and add different products and storage solutions to help you stay organized.

By |June 1st, 2021|Blog|1 Comment

If you’ve been struggling with your closet organization plan, this blog series will be just what you need! Maybe you’ve looked on Pinterest for inspiration. Or you’ve been to The Container Store for products but aren’t sure what will fit best in your closet. Everyone’s closet is a different size and shape and everyone has different needs. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for closets, so thinking through some things prior to starting will help you get just the closet that you need.

Before you worry about starting to purge and organize your clothes, let’s take a look at your closet layout first. Planning the layout will help you make the most of your space.

Voxer: The App Everyone Should Have

By |December 4th, 2019|Blog|0 Comments

So, I’m sure you are all curious as to what app I think everyone should have. You may be wondering if you already have this app, or if you’ve even heard of it. First of all, I am not an affiliate with this particular app and am not getting a referral fee or commission for this post. I just truly love this app and it has helped change my life for the better ever since I’ve been using it. So without further ado, the app I totally think every person should have is called Voxer.

Voxer is a free app available on iOS and Android devices that allows you to leave up to a 15-minute voice message (as well as pictures and videos) to a person or group of people at any time, and those people can listen and respond when it’s convenient for them.

You may be thinking, “But Dawn, why […]

I don’t particularly love cooking, mainly because I feel rushed to get something edible on the table after I get home from picking up the kids and work. My goal is simple; to provide a decent meal that my whole family will enjoy before we head upstairs to do our nightly bedtime routine. Since I began my organizing business, I have used myself and my family as guinea pigs to try new systems to make our lives run smoother that I can eventually share with clients. I love the challenge of taking a problem or repetitive task and simplifying it into something that can run on auto-pilot.  Meal planning was a system […]

5 Thing You May Be Doing To Sabotage Your Organization

By |October 8th, 2019|Blog|0 Comments

Many of my clients tell me they have tried to get organized and just can’t do it. They are smart, capable people, so why haven’t they succeeded? Many times we thwart our own best efforts, but if we make small adjustments in our processes it can lead to huge strides in living an organized life. Below my close friend and fellow Professional Organizer Kirsten Fisher shares some of the top things her clients tend to do to sabotage themselves. See if you can relate…

1. Shop First. Buying cute containers may help motivate us into getting organized but it won’t create the right system. Taking your things and throwing them in a pretty bin is not organization. It won’t last once you start to use it. What should be your first step?

Sort. The first step is always sort. Determine what you have by category. Completely empty the space to put all […]
